Sunrise Christian School exists to provide excellent education for preschoolers to sixth graders in a safe and moral environment.

Pre School Program:

Sunrise Christian Pre-School offers a welcoming atmosphere to every child, one which allows the youngster to develop a sense of inner peace and contentment as a world of learning unfolds before him. Our teachers are nurturing, sympathetic to the needs of young children without indulging them. The Carden system of learning promotes the development of the child's powers of observation and attention yet without creating pressure or stress to the child's nervous system. We offer opportunities for development of independence and self-reliance, as well as maintaining a balance between active and quiet periods.

Students benefit from the gentle and structured program which includes language development, math concepts, music, Spanish greetings - phrases and songs.  Socialization is developed through group play, puppetry, skits and seasonal projects.

It is our goal to have our pre-school students cultivate a pleasant speaking voice, an appreciation of beauty, and a cheerful attitude towards life.

Kindergarten - 6th grades:

PHILOSOPHY

Sunrise Christian School strives to develop well-rounded, confident, morally responsible students who have excellent academic skills. We want to awaken in each child the desire to learn and develop self-discipline and good study habits; able to meet the increasing demands of social and academic opportunities in the future.

Our philosophy of education emphasizes learning for the joy of learning rather than for the sake of grades. However, we recognize the importance of accountability to parents for their sacrifice and investment in their children’s education.

Because our classes are small we can maintain regular communication with parents about each child’s progress. Also parent –teacher conferences are scheduled in the fall and spring. Children in the elementary grades receive report cards with letter grades. Kindergarten children receive a less formal report three times per year.

Standardized achievement tests are given in the spring. Parents are informed of their child’s achievements compared to national norms.

CURRICULA

Carden materials and methods have consistently produced high achieving students. We also continually research and include supplemental materials from nationally recognized sources such as ACSI, Bob Jones, Saxon and ABeka.
